A 26-year-old Milton woman faces robbery and other charges in connection with the June 13 robbery of a man outside the Weis grocery store in Lewes.
The incident happened about 2 p.m. at Weis grocery store located at 17232 North Village Main Blvd., Lewes, when police say Erika A. Morris followed a 65-year-old Lewes man to his car in the parking lot.
The two struggled as Morris took the man’s wallet out of his hands before fleeing on foot. Police said Morris may have fled to a nearby parking lot and left in a red-colored sedan.
The man was not injured, and no weapon was displayed or implied.
After receiving an anonymous tip, police went to a home June 16 in the 28000 block of West Springside Drive where they found Morris standing outside on the front porch, said Senior Cpl. Heather Pepper of the Delaware State Police. While searching her, Pepper said, police found about 2 grams of marijuana, drug paraphernalia and 11 pills for which she had no prescription.
Morris, who also had three active warrants for her arrest, was taken into custody without incident.
She was taken to Troop 7 where she was charged with second-degree robbery, theft under $1,500, four counts of unlawful use of payment card, shoplifting, and other charges.
Morris was arraigned and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution in default of a $13,000 secured bond.
