A motorcyclist is in serious condition following a crash Feb. 21 on Freeman Highway in Lewes.

A Milton man was driving a 2002 Honda Shadow 750 Spirit motorcycle at 6:30 p.m. westbound on Freeman Highway when it struck a 2005 Nissan Murano driven by a Lewes resident turning left onto Monroe Avenue, said James Salmon, spokesman for the Delaware River and Bay Authority.

Rescue units from the Lewes Fire Department responded to the scene and transported the motorcyclist to Beebe Healthcare. He was subsequently airlifted to Christiana Medical Center with severe injuries, including multiple broken bones and significant head injuries, Salmon said.

The investigation is ongoing by DRBA police to determine cause of the accident.
