Motorists: Expect delays June 23 during Running of the Bull in DeweyDELETR

Increased pedestrian activity on Route 1 for annual event

The Delaware Department of Transportation has announced that motorists can expect delays and increased pedestrian activity Saturday, June 23, on Route 1 northbound/southbound in Dewey Beach for the 22nd Running of the Bull that takes place at The Starboard.

Northbound and southbound traffic on Route 1 will be stopped at 2 p.m., as runners leave The Starboard. Message boards will also be posted for motorists.

Between the hours of 1:30 and 3 p.m. motorists are encouraged to utilize Route 113. In past years, delays have approached 40 minutes in this area during the event.

Motorists can adjust their routes or travel times by using the DelDOT app, available free for Apple and Android smartphones and tablets at the Apple and Google Play stores at www.deldot.gov/mobile.

Motorists are encouraged to call the following numbers at the Transportation Management Center to report any travel and/or traffic related issues: Dial #77 from a cell phone in Delaware; or 302-659-4600 or 800-324-8379. If there is an emergency, Dial 911.
