On Mount Victoria, the highest volcano on Auckland’s North Shore with the Gazette

March 30, 2019

Cape Gazette readers John & Michele Walker spent 10 days in Australia and New Zealand in early February. “Australia was amazing, however we especially enjoyed our time in New Zealand,” said John. “New Zealand is a country primarily composed of 2 large islands (North and South Islands) along with several smaller islands. We spent our time based in Auckland on the north island and spent one day in Devonport and travelled to Waiheke Island on another. It is a country of breathtaking natural wonders, beautiful beaches and very friendly people. Due to its location in the southern hemisphere, it was mid-summer in New Zealand with the temperature during our visit was 80-85 degrees.”
Here the Walkers are pictured on top of Mount Victoria (Takarunga) in Devonport providing a view of Auckland’s Waitemata Harbor and the inner Hauraki Gulf. Several sailboats can be seen in the harbor and downtown Auckland in the background.
