MS Shore Group fundraiser walk to be held May 18

May 14, 2018

The Sussex County MS Shore Group will hold its second annual MS Foundation Walk at 5 p.m., Friday, May 18, at the Colonial East community, behind Panera Bread on Route 1 at Midway, north of Rehoboth.

The group was founded more than 30 years ago as a self-help organization for those in this area living with multiple sclerosis. In addition to monthly meetings, once each year the group plans and manages a walk to raise money for the MS Foundation, a national organization. Again this year, local educational figure Kody O'Bear will serve as grand marshal.

Through the years, the Shore Group has gained members as more people with MS have learned about it. The group meets the first Wednesday of each month at the parish hall of St. George's Chapel on Beaver Dam Road four miles west of Five Points. Most months are devoted to educational programs with topics and speakers chosen by members, while others are scheduled for fun and fellowship activities.

MS is an incurable, often debilitating disease that attacks the central nervous system. The Sussex County MS Shore Group helps those with the disease keep active and stay aware of new developments to help with their condition.
