Musical auditions for ‘Oliver!’ set March 29-30

Second Street Players seek performers ages 8 and up

Second Street Players Directors Steven Haber and Melissa Brenner are looking for performers age 8 and up for a variety of roles in “Oliver!” the musical adaptation of Charles Dickens’ “Oliver Twist.”

Auditions will take place at 7 p.m., Sunday and Monday, March 29 and 30, at Riverfront Theater, 2 S. Walnut St., Milford.

In “Oliver!” 9-year-old Oliver Twist falls in with Fagin and his troupe of street-urchin pickpockets, including the Artful Dodger. Oliver is caught on his first outing, and his intended victim, Mr. Brownlow, feels pity and offers him a home. Fagin’s violent associate, Bill Sykes, schemes along with his girlfriend, Nancy, to get Oliver back into the fold. Nancy needs to balance her loyalty to Bill with her affection for Oliver. From there, the secrets of Oliver’s origin are revealed.

Those auditioning should arrive on time; auditions will take place in groups. Individuals should be prepared to move and have an appropriate song prepared to sing either a capella or with CD accompaniment. 

Show performance dates will be Friday to Sunday, July 10 to 12, 17 to 19, and 24 to 26.
