It’s not everyday you see Santa Claus on a boat, but that’s what occurs each year when the Delaware Natural Resources Police help the jolly old elf with a unique delivery to support the Marine Corps Reserves Toys for Tots campaign. On Dec. 13, Santa arrived via a marine patrol boat to an Indian River marina dock in Delaware Seashore State Park. The toys were donated by the public and employees at Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control offices and state parks statewide. The donations included more than 100 toys from residents of Independence, a community along Route 23 near Long Neck.
