Nettie Ellingsworth, switchboard operator

Mrs. Nettie Wootten Ellingsworth, 90, of Georgetown passed away peacefully Monday, April 8, 2019.

Mrs. Ellingsworth was born in Whitesville to the late Herman S. and Carrie Scott Wootten. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband William Ellingsworth in 2012; her siblings, Hilda Wootten Smith, Denver Wootten, and Linford Wootten; as well as her darling feline friend, Lucky.

Nettie retired from Diamond State Telephone and also the State of Delaware where she worked as a switchboard operator. She was a member of Bethesda United Methodist Church in Georgetown. She enjoyed caring for her cats, her yard and home. She liked everything kept neat and tidy.

She is survived by a son, Gerald Ellingsworth of Georgetown; and four grand-cats, Kit Kat, Kitty, Jeff and Barney.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, April 11, at the Watson Funeral Home, 211 S. Washington St., Millsboro, where friends may visit from noon till 1 p.m. Burial will follow at Millsboro Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Brandywine Valley SPCA, 22918 DuPont Blvd., Georgetown, DE 19947; or to Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
