January 15, 2021

By a unanimous vote Jan. 13, Dewey Beach commissioners approved a contract to hire new Town Manager Bill Zolper.

Mayor Dale Cooke said Zolper was every commissioner’s No. 1 choice out of all applicants.

“I think he was a great candidate and he’ll be a very good town manager,” Cooke said. “We expect it won’t take long for him to ramp up in this town because he knows the town so well.”

Cooke said Zolper grew up in Dewey Beach and has extensive experience in management and law enforcement; he retired from the FBI and has worked as a government contractor in the security field.

“I really expect great things,” Cooke said. “I think we’ll be really happy with him.”

Zolper said he is honored and excited to be selected as town manager.

“I believe my past career experiences have prepared me for this new challenge,” he said. “I look forward to serving the citizens, visitors, business owners, council and mayor starting Feb. 1.”
