New Year’s run, walk and plunge in Bethany Jan. 1

December 17, 2021

The Quiet Resorts Charitable Foundation and the Bethany-Fenwick Area Chamber of Commerce are continuing their New Year’s Day tradition in 2022 with the Annual Hair of the Dog Run and Leo Brady Exercise Like the Eskimos Plunge Saturday, Jan. 1.

Participants can run, walk, and plunge into the new year with fun, family-friendly events. Proceeds benefit the local community by providing nonprofit grants and student scholarships.

The 5K run will start at 10 a.m., followed by the 1-Mile walk at 10:05 a.m. The Leo Brady Exercise Like the Eskimos Plunge will take place at 12 p.m. This year, both events will celebrate their post-party at the Bethany Boathouse, which will have a special opening for the holiday weekend. Attendees will enjoy music, great food, drinks and an all-you-can-eat nacho bar.

Don’t want to plunge alone or looking to have the ultimate experience? Sign up with a team or join Team Cottage/Boathouse upon registration at thequietresorts.com. Payment of $55 per person includes the registration fee, breakfast buffet, drink specials, liquid courage team apparel, official long-sleeve shirt, transportation to and from the swim, and the post-plunge party.

Local businesses and residents as well as visitors are encouraged to be part of the fun. On-site registration and packet pickup will take place from 12 to 3 p.m, Friday, Dec. 31, at the Bethany Boathouse, 39187 Hickman Plaza Road, Bethany Beach.
