Sussex offices get computer upgrade
Starting at 3 p.m., Friday, April 12, and over the weekend, Sussex County government offices will be undergoing a computer software upgrade. During this time period, the county’s website that accesses permitting and payment processing will not be available. The system is expected to be back in service at the start of business Monday, April 15.

Rehoboth committee on trees meeting set April 12
The Rehoboth Mayor’s Advisory Committee on Trees has scheduled a meeting for 10 a.m., Friday, April 12, in the commissioners room of city hall, 229 Rehoboth Ave. The agenda calls for a discussion on Arbor Day, which is Friday, April 26, and a discussion about the path forward. Dewey commissioners to meet April 13
Dewey Beach commissioners will hold their monthly meeting at 9 a.m., Saturday, April 13, at the Lifesaving Station, 1 Dagsworthy Ave. Commissioners will hear summer preparedness updates, and discuss standard workflow process for independent auditors/consultants and the 2020 fiscal year staffing plan. Commissioners will possibly vote on a proposal to permit a miniature golf establishment at the former location of Ed’s Chicken, to approve draft changes to the town charter, to set FOIA copying fees, to approve amendments to the conditional-use application and to approve a special-event application.

Commissioners will also discuss any updates as they pertain to the military surplus program. Executive session will follow, in which commissioners will discuss personnel matters and hold strategy sessions with respect to pending litigation.

April 14 is final chance to try out for Rehoboth Beach Patrol
Rehoboth Beach Patrol’s fourth and final pre-employment test for the 2019 season is 11 a.m., Sunday, April 14. The location is the Milford Boys & Girls Club, 101 Delaware Veterans Blvd., Milford. Fishers Cove back on Lewes agenda April 15
The Lewes Parks and Recreation Commission will meet at 7 p.m., Monday, April 15, at the Rollins Center. The group will review the revised major subdivision plan for Fishers Cove, proposed for a parcel of land at the end of Rodney Avenue. Boardwalk, beach committee to meet April 15
The Rehoboth Boardwalk and Beach Committee has scheduled a meeting for 9 a.m., Monday, April 15, in the commissioners room of city hall, 229 Rehoboth Ave. The agenda calls for continued discussion of bicycle use on the Boardwalk, an update on committee initiatives, a review of the city’s involvement with the Association of Coastal Towns and a beach replenishment update. Milton planners to meet April 16
Milton Planning and Zoning Commission will meet at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, April 16, at Milton library, to discuss final site-plan review for a proposed addition and renovations to the Milton Fire Department’s station house at 116 Front St. The proposed $4 million addition would include renovations to the second floor and new garage bays for vehicles. In new business, the commission will discuss a request from town council for an advisory opinion on a possible rezoning at 406 Hazzard St., and will elect a chairperson and secretary.

Lewes annexation group to meet April 15
The Lewes Annexation Regulation Committee will meet at 10 a.m., Monday, April 15, at the Rollins Center. The agenda includes discussion on cluster options, consideration of development within the floodplain, impervious surfaces within a proposed community and building height. Lewes dune workshop set April 16
Lewes will hold a workshop at 7 p.m., Tuesday, April 16, at the Lewes Public Library to discuss the possibility of adding a dune adjacent to the Beach 1 parking lot. Discussion will also focus on the benefits of dunes to the community and the environment. The public is invited to share its thoughts. The discussion will be led by Mayor Ted Becker and City Manager Ann Marie Townshend. For more information, call city hall at 302-645-7777.

Tickets on sale for Surfgimp fundraiser
Po’ Boys Creole and Fresh Catch is hosting its second annual Crawfish Boil to benefit the Surfgimp Foundation at 3 p.m., Sunday, April 28. The event is taking place at Camp Arrowhead, 35268 Homestead Way, Lewes. Po’ Boys owner Melissa Clampitt said the camp offers a great indoor venue for the food and great outdoor atmosphere for exploring. Looks to be another sellout event, she said in an email April 9. The Rehoboth working group studying utility rates in Rehoboth has scheduled a meeting for 1 p.m., Tuesday, April 16, in the commissioners room of city hall, 229 Rehoboth Ave. The agenda calls for continued discussion of a proposed rate structure for water and wastewater rates. Sussex County land-use plan certified by Gov. Carney
Sussex County’s 2018 comprehensive land-use plan has officially been certified by Gov. John Carney following a recommendation from the Cabinet Committee on State Planning Issues. In an April 1 letter to the county, the governor thanked county officials for cooperating with state officials to implement state recommendations. “We look forward to working with you as you implement the plan,” Carney said.

Sussex County Council meeting set April 16
Sussex County Council will meet at 10 a.m., Tuesday, April 16, in the county administration building, 2 The Circle, Georgetown. Included on the agenda is a 10:15 a.m. public hearing on a proposed code amendment allowing Sussex County Planning and Zoning Commission to make determinations on permitted uses in certain zoning districts.
