Dewey commissioners meet July 12
Dewey Beach commissioners will hold a public hearing and monthly town meeting at 6 p.m., Friday, July 12, at the Lifesaving Station, 1 Dagsworthy Ave. A public hearing and possible vote will be held on an ordinance to approve an amendment of an existing conditional-use permit held by Regan Derrickson to demolish the existing Ponos building and replace it with an outside patio connected to the existing Nalu building.

Commissioners will discuss development of and ongoing plans for the town’s response to recent incidents near Northbeach and the Lions Club, and will also discuss Dewey police officer wages. Possible votes include approving the Clydesdale parade application and installing street lights on Dagsworthy Avenue bayside. An update on the military surplus inventory will be provided.

Rehoboth parking garage meeting set July 12
The Rehoboth Parking Garage Task Force has scheduled a meeting for 9 a.m., Friday, July 12, in the commissioners room of city hall, 229 Rehoboth Ave. The agenda calls for a continued discussion on the need for a parking garage in downtown Rehoboth. For details call 302-227-6181.

Rehoboth tree advisory committee to meet July 12
The Rehoboth Mayor’s Advisory Committee on Trees has scheduled a meeting for 10 a.m., Friday, July 12, in the commissioners room of city hall, 229 Rehoboth Ave. The agenda calls for an update on the tree ordinance, commemorative tree status and a discussion about Arbor Day 2020, which marks the city’s 30th year as a Tree City.

Rehoboth Beach town hall meeting July 13
Rehoboth Beach commissioners have scheduled a town hall meeting to discuss the proposed water and wastewater rates for 10 a.m., Saturday, July 13, in the commissioners room of city hall, 229 Rehoboth Ave. The agenda calls for a presentation and discussion on the proposed changes. Rehoboth planning commission to meet July 12
The Rehoboth Beach Planning Commission has scheduled a meeting for 1 p.m., Friday, July 12, in the commissioners room of city hall, 229 Rehoboth Ave.

The agenda calls for a preliminary review of the site plan for a four-story hotel at 17, 19 and 21 Baltimore Ave., and the continuation of a sketch-plan review for a hotel at 2 Rehoboth Ave. For more information call 302-227-6181. Henlopen Acres commissioner to meet July 12
The Henlopen Acres Board of Commissioners has scheduled its quarterly meeting for 10 a.m., Friday, July 12, in town hall, 104 Tidewaters. The agenda calls for a possible vote on a building and property maintenance ordinance, a possible vote on the license agreement for the bridle path and a possible vote on amendments to the town’s tree code. Nighttime lane closures for Route 1 Lewes-Rehoboth Canal bridge begin July 15
The Delaware Department of Transportation announced July 5 there will be temporary nighttime lane closures on the Route 1 bridge crossing Lewes-Rehoboth Canal from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., beginning Sunday, July 15. The temporary closures will run Sunday evening until Friday morning, ending Friday, Sept. 23. This work is preparation work related to the upcoming bridge closure this winter. Flaggers will be on-site to direct motorists.

The project involves deck replacement and substructure work, which will be done in phases. The northbound span on Route 1 will be closed starting Friday, Sept. 23. After the work is completed on Route 1 northbound, the contractor will proceed to close Route 1 southbound. Motorists will be able to travel along Route 1 the whole time. The north and south canal embankments will be stabilized with riprap and geotextile. Corrugated metal pipes that outfall in the canal north and south of the bridge will be replaced with reinforced concrete pipes. Access will be available to all businesses at all times. 14th District Democrats to meet July 10
The July meeting of the 14th Representative District Democratic Party Committee  will be held Wednesday, July 10, at the Forgotten Mile Ale House, Route 1 between Rehoboth Beach and Dewey Beach.  The dutch treat dinner/social hour begins at 5:30 p.m., and the meeting runs from 6:30 to 8 p.m.   The program will feature Delaware Democratic Party National Committeewoman Kerri Evelyn Harris.  They will also tally the results of the straw polls taken at the June Democratic Presidential Candidate Debate Watch Parties which were hosted by Committee Members all across the 14th District. Watch party attendees are encouraged to come out to the meeting to find out how their candidates fared, and to get a summary of the ideas discussed at the June  meeting breakout sessions.  For details, check out the Facebook page Delaware’s 14thRD Democratic Committee.
