Rehoboth Boardwalk Committee to meet
The Rehoboth Beach Boardwalk and Beach Committee will meet at 9 a.m., Monday, July 16, in the commissioners room of city hall, 229 Rehoboth Ave. The agenda calls for a discussion of an emergency travel lane on the beach and the need for more public restrooms, changing rooms or showers. There will also be a discussion on installation of a public announcement system and video cameras along the length of the Boardwalk. For more information, call 302-227-6181. The Rehoboth Beach Law Oversight Committee will meet at 1 p.m., Wednesday, July 18, in the commissioners room of city hall, 229 Rehoboth Ave. The agenda calls for a look at the city tree ordinance and zoning code. Center for Inland Bays public forum July 23
The Delaware Center for the Inland Bays will host a public forum Monday, July 23, to share updates and collect public feedback on the management plan for the future of the Inland Bays. The event runs from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Indian River Senior Center, 214 Irons Ave., Millsboro.

The updated Comprehensive Conservation and Management Plan will direct the activities protecting and enhancing the Inland Bays for the next five years, through 2023. The plan outlines goals and activities the center and its partners will take on to improve the Inland Bays and surrounding watershed. Lewes Parks and Rec workshop set July 16
The Lewes Parks and Recreation Commission will host a workshop at 6 p.m., Monday, July 16, at city hall to solicit public comment on the design, elements and amenities for a new playground structure at George H.P. Smith Park. For more information, call city hall at 302-645-7777.

Milton planning meeting cancelled
Milton Planning and Zoning Commission has cancelled its Tuesday, July 17 meeting due to no agenda items.
The commission's next meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 24.

John Mills is new Sussex BOA chairman
At its July 9 meeting, John Mills of Laurel was voted in as chairman of the Sussex County Board of Adjustment. Former Chairman Dale Callaway of Milton was named vice chairman. Both members were appointed to the board in 1992.

Sussex council has full July 17 agenda
Sussex County Council will meet at 10 a.m., Tuesday, July 17, in the county administration building, 2 The Circle, Georgetown. Included on the agenda is a discussion of a proposed forested/landscaped buffer ordinance, an update on the Sussex Sports Foundation and board appointments, and a review of the council's draft of the 2018 comprehensive land-use plan. At 1:30 p.m., council will have a discussion on regulations relating to buffers and density. See a complete agenda at www.sussexcountyde.gov.

Dewey Town Council meets July 13
Dewey Beach Town Council will hold its monthly meeting at 6 p.m., Friday, July 13, at the Dewey Beach Lifesaving Station, 1 Dagsworthy Ave. Commissioners will discuss and possibly vote on an ordinance to amend town code definition of the term half-story as recommended by the Planning and Zoning Commission. Council will also discuss and vote to refer the Planning and Zoning Commission to review and make a recommendation regarding the necessity of the current 15-foot required side-yard setbacks for corner lots abutting a street in the NR zone, versus 8-foot side-yard setbacks for non-corner lots. Council will provide an update on the 2018 municipal election, including a possible vote appointing members of the Dewey Beach Board of Election.

20th RD Democratic Committee to meet
Sen. Bryan Townsend, D-Newark, will be the guest speaker at the RD 20 Democratic Committee meeting Thursday, July 19, at Fish On Restaurant, 17300 Village Main Blvd., Lewes. Committee members and guests gather at 5:30 p.m. for refreshments and dinner (optional) followed at 6 p.m. by Townsend's presentation. The public is welcome to join in civil discourse regarding political issues.

Townsend has been a state senator since 2012. He chairs the Health, Children & Social Services Committee, and serves on several other committees including Education; Capital Improvements; and Banking, Business & Insurance. Townsend will discuss steps the Legislature has taken during its most recent legislative session to improve the lives of all Delawareans. Townsend is a native Delawarean with family in all three counties of Delaware; he is one of four sons of a retired Newark police officer from Sussex County and a public school teacher from Newark. He graduated from the University of Delaware, University of Cambridge and Yale Law School.

Following the presentation, RD20 Democratic Committee will conduct its monthly business meeting. Democrats LaKresha Roberts, candidate for attorney general, and Dennis Williams, candidate for state auditor, will discuss their respective platforms.

Superior Court enhances system
The Superior Court of Delaware has announced improvements to its existing Jury Management System, with a new online Juror Qualification Questionnaire Response Portal called Jury+ Web Solution. This new software will allow jurors to complete their questionnaire online. With the new software, jurors can also submit requests for postponements and excusals online and in real time.
This means jury staff can now review and make a determination regarding granting or denying the request with a faster turnaround.

The Jury Services Department will continue to provide services to those without access to the internet by accepting and generating juror correspondence through the U.S. mail and by fax. The Jury Services Department of the Superior Court is committed to providing personalized assistance to all jurors via the telephone and in person.
