DNREC to hold Nov. 27 hearing on Perdue plant
Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control will hold a public hearing at 6 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 27, at Georgetown Middle School, on an application by Perdue Foods to discharge treated wastewater from the Georgetown facility. The hearing will include a presentation from DNREC staff and a forum for public comment.
Those wishing to comment can do so in person or in writing at the hearing. Written comments will also be accepted by hearing officer Lisa Vest either by email at Lisa.Vest@state.de.us or by mail at Lisa A. Vest, Office of the Secretary, Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control, 89 Kings Highway, Dover, DE 19901.

Nassau applications on Nov. 29 P&Z agenda
At its Nov. 15 meeting, Sussex Planning and Zoning Commission deferred votes on three applications filed by Nassau DE Acquisition Co. LLC for a multifamily housing and commercial project on a parcel near the intersection of Route 1 and Old Mill Road north of Lewes. The commission has placed the applications on the Thursday, Nov. 29 agenda.

Communities summit slated Dec. 5
The Delaware Resilient and Sustainable Communities League annual summit will take place 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 5. The theme of this year’s summit is The Buck Stops Here. Funding Resilient and Sustainable Projects at the State and Local Level.

Taking place at the Del-One Conference Center, Terry Campus, Delaware Technical Community College in Dover, the daylong summit will take a comprehensive look at funding strategies that help Delaware communities manage and mitigate the changes brought by extreme weather, environmental degradation and global warming. Participants will explore new funding opportunities at the local, state and federal levels and the costs of action and inaction.

RASCL is a professional network of experts from government, the University of Delaware, and nonprofits working to connect people to information and grow the capacity of the state to thrive in the face of change. Keynote remarks will be given by Lisa Sharrard, principal of U.S. Flood Solutions, LLC.  
Sharrard is a national expert in flood insurance and flood mitigation, and a past chair of the Association of State Floodplain Managers. Registration is open until Friday, Nov. 30. For more information about RASCL and a link to register for the event, go to www.derascl.org/summit.

New Road Master Plan workshop set Nov. 27
The public is invited to learn about and comment on a master plan for New Road in Lewes from 4 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 27, at Cape Henlopen High School. The workshop will include time to review displays describing the initial set of concepts and recommendations under consideration. A formal presentation will be held at 5:30 p.m. Questions and open discussion will follow. The master plan will help define the future character of New Road in the face of changing land use, flooding and drainage problems, non-motorized accessibility and recreational opportunities. The plan will include context-sensitive design approaches that could be incorporated throughout the corridor to address planned projects along New Road.
