Rehoboth environment committee to meet

The Rehoboth Beach Environment Committee has scheduled an online meeting for 2 p.m., Wednesday, April 14. The agenda calls for continued discussions on elimination of single-use plastic products, “bring your own bag” signage, the dark skies initiative and a sustainable climate action plan. Rehoboth green infrastructure committee to meet

The Rehoboth Beach Trees & Green Infrastructure Committee will meet online at 10 a.m., Friday, April 16. The agenda calls for finalization of the Arbor Day 2021 schedule and a discussion on the tree ordinance revision.  People wishing to speak must preregister with City Secretary Ann Womack at least 24 hours prior to the meeting by emailing awomack@cityofrehoboth.com. Rehoboth Beach commissioners will meet online at 2 p.m., Friday, April 16.  The agenda calls for possible votes on a series of housekeeping code changes, an update on the Baltimore/Wilmington avenues streetscape project and the possible approval of a settlement agreement to resolve the lawsuit filed by the Knights of Columbus. Lewes African American Heritage Commission to meet

The Lewes African American Heritage Commission will meet virtually at 6 p.m., Thursday, April 15. The group will discuss a special guest request invitation for Congresswoman Lisa Blunt Rochester, the commission’s budget, a Juneteenth event and a historic marker. Milton approves measure for Bryan Stevenson plaque

Milton Town Council unanimously passed a memorandum of understanding that paves the way for a plaque honoring Miltonian and famed civil rights attorney Bryan Stevenson. 

The plaque would be purchased by the Milton Community Foundation and donated to the Milton Historical Society for placement on its grounds. The memorandum allows that if the historical society were to cease to exist, the plaque would come under control of the town and be displayed on town land. 

Milton Community Foundation plans to dedicate the plaque in the fall, when it will be mounted and displayed on the grounds outside the Lydia Cannon Museum on Union Street. 

 

Milton Water Committee to meet

Milton Water Committee will meet at 2 p.m., Wednesday, April 14, at Grace Church, to discuss the progress of ongoing water projects and future upgrades.

The committee will also discuss rates and fees, impact fees and a 5- to 10-year capital improvement plan for the town’s water system. 

 

RD20 Democratic Committee to meet

The Delaware 20th Representative District Democratic Committee will meet at virtually at 6:30 p.m., Thursday, April 15. 

Speaker of the House Rep. Pete Schwartzkopf, D-Rehoboth Beach, will discuss key bills before the state Legislature, followed by a question-and-answer session. 

Any registered Democrat in Delaware is welcome to participate. Registration for non-committee people is required by emailing rd20.deldems@gmail.com and including legal name and street address for verification purposes.

Agenda set for 14th RD Dems meeting

The local branch of the Delaware Democratic Party will meet virtually at 5 p.m., Wednesday, April 14. Special guest speaker Betsy Moran, state Democratic Party chair, will discuss the upcoming state convention, the state Democratic Party platform and her vision for the future. Regular party business will follow.
