Rehoboth Beach Patrol tryouts scheduled

Rehoboth Beach Patrol tryouts continue with the second of three sessions at 11:30 a.m., Saturday, April 10, at Sussex Academy Aquatic Center, 2150 Airport Road, Georgetown. The third tryout is at 9:30 a.m., Saturday, April 17, at Concord High School Pool, 2501 Ebright Road, Wilmington. For details on requirements, go to rehobothbeachpatrol.com. Capt. Rehoboth Boardwalk committee to meet

The Rehoboth Beach Boardwalk and Beach Committee has scheduled a meeting for 10:30 a.m., Monday, April 12. The meeting will be conducted online. The agenda calls for discussions on capital improvements related to the beach and Boardwalk, and recycling on the Boardwalk. Special Rehoboth meeting set April 13

Rehoboth Beach commissioners have scheduled a special meeting for 3 p.m., Tuesday, April 13. The meeting will be conducted online. The agenda calls for discussions on multiple issues related to COVID-19. A full agenda and meeting materials are accessible at cityofrehoboth.civicweb.net. Milton Preservation Commission to meet

Milton Historic Preservation Commission will meet at 5:30 p.m., Monday, April 12, at Grace Church, to discuss four cases. Scott Richardson and Robert Miller, owners of 208 Federal St., are requesting to add a walkway from the driveway to the front door, and replace their fencing. John and Emily Lehne, owners of 203 Mill St., have requested to replace a metal roof with the same material on the front porch, rear porch and second-story bump out. Kathryn Grieg, owner of 326 Union St., is seeking approval to replace the asphalt shingles on the roof with the same type of material. Finally, Ursula Beaver is seeking to repair the roof and replace the asphalt shingles at her home at 310 Union St. 

Lewes Mayor and City Council meet April 12

Lewes Mayor and City Council will meet virtually at 6:30 p.m., Monday, April 12. The group will discuss renewal of a hunting lease for Great Marsh Associates, placement of the railroad swing bridge on a city-owned parcel at the end of American Legion Road, and a request to add a clock to the commercial streetscape. Members will also consider awarding a contract for improvements to the tennis and basketball courts in Canalfront Park. Council will set public hearings for several issues, including amending environmental protections regulations, rezoning 1145 Savannah Road to general commercial, amending city code to allow for craft distilleries and microbreweries, and amending city code related to water resource protection areas and the source water protection overlay. Other items on the agenda include action on a possible ordinance to increase the maximum height of buildings in the community facilities education zone, consideration of a resolution to annex 1145 Savannah Road, action on waiver requests for the Virden major subdivision on Kings Highway, consideration of awarding a contract for construction of restrooms at the Rollins Community Center, and possible action on ordinances related to maintenance and repair of sidewalks and parking. A link to the meeting can be found on the agenda at lewes.civicweb.net

Lewes historic preservation meets April 13

The Lewes Historic Preservation Architectural Review Commission will meet virtually at 6 p.m., Tuesday, April 13. The group will consider modification of a previously approved plan for a contributing home at 125 Jefferson Ave. They will also consider a request for an addition and deck to an existing contributing home at 410 Pilottown Road, a request for renovation of the existing dwelling and an addition for a contributing home at 618 Kings Highway, and a request for demolition of an existing dwelling and accessory structure, and construction of a new home at 213 Monroe Ave. A link to the meeting can be found on the agenda at lewes.civicweb.net
