Lewes planners to meet July 15

The Lewes Planning Commission will hold its monthly meeting at 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, July 15, in the Rollins Community Center.

Lewes groups set to meet July 16

The Lewes Johnnie Walker Beach Subcommittee will hold its monthly meeting at 5 p.m., Thursday, July 16, at city hall. The agenda calls for discussion and possible action on a replica pavilion at the beach.

The Lewes African American Heritage Commission will meet at 6 p.m. in the same location. The panel is set to discuss the Social & Economic Work Group's preliminary recommendations on the Middle Passage Marker.

Dewey council meeting set July 17

Dewey Beach Town Council will meet at 3 p.m., Friday, July 17, at the town lifesaving station.

The council will discuss and possibly take action on a draft ordinance to amend the town code relating to noise control and amplified sound.

It will also discuss ongoing fundraising efforts for the new town hall, progress of Dewey's 2028 comprehensive plan and the town's June financial statements.

Also, the commissioners will discuss and possibly take action on several reappointments, including Dave Lyons to the planning & zoning commission for a term of three years, and board of elections members Elaine Bole, Kay Sullivan and Marty Tarr, and election officials Rick Baierlein, Phil Winkler, Robert Day, Stephen Eckermann and Susan Trencher, for terms of one year.

Rehoboth board meeting set July 17

Rehoboth Beach commissioners will meet at 2 p.m., Friday, July 17, at city hall, 229 Rehoboth Ave. The agenda includes a presentation by Dover Kohl & Partners providing an overview of the city’s Charrette Week and key preliminary takeaways related to downtown/commercial zoning updates.

Janice Road lane closures start July 21

The Delaware Department of Transportation announced there will be intermittent lane closures on Janice Road from its intersection with Route 1 near the Nassau Bridge to the Lewes Senior Activity Center from Tuesday, July 21 through Monday, July 27 for paving operations.

Millsboro student awarded presidential scholarship

New York Institute of Technology announced Princessa Lopez Diaz, a Sussex Academy graduate from Millsboro, has been awarded the presidential scholarship, the highest scholarship awarded to incoming first-year students.
