Camp Arrowhead Road to close Sept. 19

Delaware Department of Transportation announced that Camp Arrowhead Road between Route 24 and Angola Road will be closed for roadwork from Monday, Sept. 19 through Friday, Dec. 16. The planned intersection and paving upgrades consist of pavement widening to extend right- and left-turn lanes on all approaches at the Route 24 intersections with both Angola Road and Camp Arrowhead Road.

Detours will be posted. Eastbound motorists on Route 24 will turn right turn onto Angola Road and proceed to Camp Arrowhead Road. Westbound motorists on Route 24 will travel past Camp Arrowhead Road, turn left onto Angola Road and proceed to Camp Arrowhead Road.

Lewes tree ordinance group meets Sept. 13

The Lewes Planning Commission Tree Ordinance Subcommittee will meet at 6 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 13, at the Rollins Center and via Zoom. The group will continue to review other tree ordinances and discuss their project scope. Find the agenda and meeting link at lewes.civicweb.net.

Lewes Capital Projects Committee to meet

The Lewes Capital Projects Committee will meet at 9 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 15, at city hall and via Zoom. The group will discuss a crosswalk at Savannah Road and Cedar Street, police department renovations and HVAC, city hall and the Fisher-Martin House. Updates will include details about parking lots on Schley Avenue and at Otis Smith Park, and improvements to Monroe, Railroad and Adams avenues. Local Dems to hear from primary winner

The winner of the Democratic primary for the Delaware Senate 6th District seat will speak Wednesday, Sept. 14, at the monthly meeting of Delaware’s 14th District Democratic Committee.

Featured the day after the primary election, either Jack Bucchioni or Russ Huxtable will discuss the  ongoing campaign for the November general election.

The 14th RD program will begin at 5 p.m. with a Dutch treat dinner at Iron Hill Brewery on Route 1 north of Rehoboth Beach, followed by candidate remarks at 6 p.m. and committee business at 6:30. The 14th RD Democratic Committee represents Democrats who live in the communities surrounding Lewes, south to Rehoboth Beach and Dewey Beach, and west to Angola.

All registered Democrats are welcome to participate. Those planning to attend the meeting should RSVP by Sept. 13 to c.fruchtman@comcast.net.

Dewey commissioners meet Sept. 16

Dewey Beach commissioners will hold public hearings and their monthly town meeting at 3 p.m., Friday, Sept. 16, at the Lifesaving Station, 1 Dagsworthy Ave. Commissioners will hold public hearings on conditional-use applications for outdoor dining, for the construction of a new Grotto Pizza, and rezoning of an adjacent lot.

Commissioners may also vote to approve a resolution supporting a grant to make improvements in Sunset Park, to approve panels to conduct chief of police interviews and to approve funding to hire a consultant to review town code. Rehoboth Beach commissioners will meet at 2 p.m., Friday, Sept. 16, in the commissioners room of city hall, 229 Rehoboth Ave. The first action will be to swear in Commissioners-elect Edward Chrzanowski and Francis “Bunky” Markert. DAR chapter to mark Constitution Day

The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution Maj. Nathaniel Mitchell Chapter will hold a Constitution Day Ceremony Saturday, Sept. 17, in Georgetown. Attendees will meet at 3:50 p.m. on The Circle to participate in the Ringing of the Bells Across America at 4 p.m. in honor of the United States Constitution.

Constitution Week was initiated by the Daughters of the American Revolution, a patriotic organization that encourages education and historic preservation in its communities. Constitution Week is celebrated every year from Sept. 17 to 23. Constitution Day is always Sept. 17.  In case of rain, participants will meet in Georgetown Town Hall.

Parker Selby event set Sept. 17 in Lewes

Friends for Stell Parker Selby will host a dinner fundraiser from 5 to 7 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 17, at Lewes Fire Station 2, 32198 Janice Road, Lewes.

Parker Selby, a lifelong Delawarean, is running for the Delaware House of Representatives District 20 seat. Residents are invited to come meet her, and hear her views and concerns.

J&B Grilling’s menu will include fried fish with collard greens, potato salad, cornbread and sweet potato pie. Tickets are $35; contact Bill Collick at 302-841-7936 for details.

RD20 Dems to meet in person Sept. 15

Delaware’s 20th Representative District Democratic Committee will meet at 6:30 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 15, in person at the Lewes Public Library, 111 Adams Ave., Lewes.

The business meeting will include campaign presentations from Stell Parker Selby, candidate for state House District 20, and the winner of the Sept. 13 Democratic primary for the state Senate 6th District seat: Jack Bucchioni or Russ Huxtable.

Any registered Democrat in Delaware is welcome to participate in RD20’s committee meeting. Grief support session set Sept. 16 in Dewey

Peace on the Water, a free floating support group session for people dealing with grief or emotional trauma, will take place from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Friday, Sept. 16, at Delmarva Board Sports, 136 Dagsworthy Ave., Dewey Beach, sponsored by HealTree in Lewes.

Women's Club of Milton to meet Sept. 13
