Lewes seeks grant for Great Marsh Park

The Delaware Division of Parks and Recreation, in response to an inquiry from Lewes Parks and Recreation Commission Chair Janet Reeves, has informed Lewes it is eligible to receive funding through the Outdoor Recreation, Parks and Trails Grant Program for development of the Great Marsh Park Master Plan.

Mayor and city council passed a resolution Sept. 12 in support of the grant seeking after Reeves received the response.

The application is due in October and Reeves expects funding to be awarded in December. There is no timeline for the funds’ use, and officials discussed using some to pay for half of the $50,000 study being done on Lewes’ largest park.
