Nickle Electrical employees restore putt-putt course at Easterseals

June 23, 2019

About a dozen Nickle Electrical employees recently volunteered to rebuild a mini-golf course at Easterseals Delaware & Maryland Eastern Shore’s Georgetown location.

There was a dilapidated course on site in need of an overhaul, so volunteers spent a Friday in May tearing down and disposing of the old course to make way for a brand-new 16-by-20-foot course with six holes. Volunteers also painted and refurbished Stella the Seahorse, the course centerpiece.

“It was really great to work together and build camaraderie while also donating time to the greater good of our community,” said Steve Dignan, Nickle president and CEO. “We’re happy to have participated in the project so visitors to Easterseals can enjoy outdoor activities.”

The nonprofit organization’s mission is to provide exceptional services, education, outreach and advocacy so people living with autism and other disabilities can live, learn, work and play in their communities.

“We’re so excited about all of [Nickle’s] work,” said Linda Forte, Easterseals community relations coordinator. “What a wonderful gift you have given us. Our participants will enjoy many hours of fun and relaxation on the green, creating special memories.”

Rep. Ruth Briggs King, R-Georgetown, also stopped by the site to recognize Nickle volunteers. In an email to the team, she said, “[The project] is an awesome and appreciated gift to Easterseals and our community.”
