Nilda G. Boyer, Pentagon secretary

Nilda G. Boyer, 90,  of Lewes passed away Saturday, Dec. 1, 2018, at her residence.  She was born  Nov. 16, 1928, in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico, daughter of Pablo  Francisco Boyer and  Augustina De Los Angeles Ubarri Boyer.

As describe by her family, Mrs. Boyer was a workaholic, and through her many years of self-teaching many office skills including typing, she was able to obtain a position working in the Pentagon, where after 30 years of service she retired from the position of executive secretary for the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

She loved current events and keeping a keen eye on the political spectrum. She was devoted to her dog Cherrie, and in most recent years after retiring to Lewes she took a keen interest in her son Robert's abilities as a gardener and decorator at their home.

She is survived by two sons, Robert P. Boyer of Lewes and Edwardo E. Estevez (Monica) of Buenos Aires, Argentina; sister-in-law LaVonne Boyer of McClean, Va.; granddaughter Emilce G. Estevez of Buenos Aires, Argentina; three nephews, Richard K, Paul W. and Philip G. Boyer; and a big loving family in Puerto Rico.

Services will be announced in the spring. Arrangements are being handled by Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, Lewes.
