The filing deadline for Henlopen Acres' 2018 board of commissioners election passed July 13 and only incumbents Andrew Brittingham and Beatrix Richards filed, which means there will be no election this year. The 3-year terms expire Sept. 7, 2021.

Brittingham said he decided to run because he likes working with the board, which provides solid input and insight on decisions the town faces. “A team like this makes what we do more enjoyable,” said Brittingham.

Over the next few years, Brittingham said he hopes to continue work toward marina improvement, maintain infrastructure, and he said, most importantly, take suggestions where there may be additional room for improvement.

Richards said she ran for re-election because she likes the job and contributing to the community. Things are going so smoothly, right now, she said.

Looking out into the next term, Richards said she thinks the silting in of the marina and infrastructure maintenance will be two important issues. Things have to be maintained, she said.
