Wilmington-domiciled Paul Bauer must have been nervous about his election chances, when, as a candidate, he changed his domicile to Dewey Beach on a form and declared himself a “resident” candidate, all the while his family and the business that they own are in Wilmington.
This scheme may have helped Bauer win his Dewey Beach election by just three voters, but now Bauer faces a lawsuit for his act as a candidate. It is interesting that his running mate (and mayor) TJ Redefer now wants to use town funds during a deficit to pay for Bauer’s legal bills (see the commissioner neeting agenda for this Saturday!).
You can’t make this up!
The same cast of characters that has been railing about town legal expenses, now wants us to pay for Mr. Bauer’s? Per the charter, only official acts are covered by statute, not some violation that one does as a candidate.
Show up or tune in to the town meeting and watch corruption in action!
