O’Boyle wins Vibes Fest SUP Sprint Challenge

About a dozen people participated in the Summer Vibes Fest East of Maui Pound and Paddle Stand-Up Paddleboard Sprint Challenge at Northbeach Aug. 14. Afternoon rain stopped and the sun came out minutes before the 5 p.m. start. Bethany Beach’s Steven O’Boyle finished the two-mile event in 12:13 to win. Sean Thomas finished in second with a time of 12:29.

The Summer Vibes Fest fun continues Friday, Aug. 16, with Art of Skate at Taco Reho’s NITE MRKT, next to Big Chill Surf Cantina, 19406 Coastal Highway, Rehoboth Beach. This event begins at 7 p.m. and will have a skate art silent auction fundraiser, food, drink, shopping and music by Three Sheets Acoustic Duo.

The Summer Vibes Fest concludes Saturday, Aug. 17, with the Rehoboth Am Skate Jam at Epworth United Methodist Church Skate Park, 19285 Holland Glade Road, Rehoboth Beach. At 11 a.m., there’s a rider check-in and warm-up, followed by a riders meeting at noon. The contest begins at 12:15 p.m., and it will be followed by an awards ceremony.
