Oak Creek Wine & Spirits goes pink during October

Sales of selected wines to benefit breast cancer coalition
October 1, 2020

Oak Creek Wine & Spirits in Milton is going pink in October.

Owner Randy Reed and his team realize that many fundraising events have been canceled or placed on hold indefinitely because of the pandemic. To raise funds for cancer research this year, Oak Creek and select wine partners will donate up to $2 from every bottle of wine sold from participating wineries and distributors.

In addition to Oak Creek donating $1 from the sale of every bottle of wine, Karen and Tony Sposato of Sposato Wines, regional wine supplier and Specialty Wines owner Laura Lamprecht, and Diego Lascano of Vintage Wines will match dollar for dollar on every bottle sold from among their selected wines during October.

Selected wines will be on display, and every bottle can be easily recognized by the pink Mardi Gras beads around its neck. Patrons can collect strands of pink Mardi Gras beads to wear to show support for finding a cancer cure.

Harvested in Argentina, Sposato Wines’ varietal lines will be featured, including the classic Sauvignon Blanc, Fresh Blend, Chardonnay, Rosé, Malbec and Bonarda.

Specialty Wines’ three beaded wines for the cure will be the Palissade Rosé of Merlot, Kickass Garnacha and Mont Paral Sparkling Cava.

Vintage Imports will be featuring and selecting four mystery wines to showcase and adorn with beads during October.

At the end of October, all sales and individual donations will be tallied and a check presented to the Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition.

With news of the cancellation of the Dewey Goes Pink event, one of the largest community fundraising events to support the nonprofit Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition, the Oak Creek team members wanted to do something to help support the community and give back because they all have been touched by knowing someone who has dealt with breast cancer.

Oak Creek’s goal is to sell a minimum of 1,000 bottles of featured, beaded wines for the month. Direct donations also will be accepted.

Oak Creek Wine & Spirits is at 28266 Lewes-Georgetown Highway, Route 9, Milton. For more information, call 302-684-2929.
