Ocean to Bay Bike Tour to gear up April 26-27

April 18, 2019

Celebrating its 30th anniversary, the Ocean to Bay Bike Tour presented by NVHomes/Ryan Homes and hosted by the Bethany-Fenwick Area Chamber of Commerce is slated for Friday and Saturday, April 26 and 27. The popular show-and-go tour brings more than 2,500 cyclists to the Quiet Resorts each spring. The 15-mile Friday Fun Ride takes cyclists from downtown Bethany Beach to the Indian River Inlet and back, featuring a stop at the Big Chill Beach Club.

“Last year was our first time offering the Friday Fun Ride,” said Lauren Weaver, executive director of the Bethany-Fenwick Area Chamber of Commerce, and race director for the tour. “In its first year, the ride was only offered to cyclists who were signed up to ride on Saturday. This year we opened the 15-mile Friday Fun Ride for individual registration, meaning cyclists do not have to be signed up for the Saturday event in order to ride on Friday.”

The main event kicks off at 7 a.m., Saturday, in downtown Bethany Beach. Participants will complete 30-mile, 50-mile, metric century, or century courses, traveling throughout the scenic beach and bay locales of southern Delaware. Registrants will have access to bike mechanics provided by Lifecycle, and rest stops along each route offer restrooms, food and beverages, and SAG wagon support available to cyclists from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

“With the majority of our cyclists coming from out of the area, people come to enjoy the Quiet Resorts for the entire weekend,” said Weaver.

After the ride, participants are invited to a party with live entertainment, food, beverages and vendors. No day-of registration will be offered. For more information, go to www.ceantobaybiketour.com.
