Oktoberfest to celebrate season Oct. 6

Event to benefit Friends of Lewes Canalfront Park
October 2, 2018

Bring family and friends to celebrate the return of the popular Oktoberfest in Lewes Canalfront Park Saturday, Oct. 6. This festive community event is held rain or shine from 2 to 6 p.m., under a giant, Munich-style tent, in conjunction with the Lewes Chamber of Commerce’s Boast the Coast Day.

This authentic Oktoberfest is presented by the Friends of the Lewes Canalfront Park, Dogfish Head Craft Brewery, Fulton Bank, i.g. Burton dealerships, and is also sponsored by Coastal Tented Events, Deanna’s & Piccolino, Element Design Group, Historic Lewes Farmers Market, Inn at Canal Square, the Issel family, the Lewes Building Company and Overhead Door of DelMar.

The event features Bavarian-inspired food provided by Lewes-area restaurants Harvest Tide Steakhouse, Jerry's Seafood, Kaisy's Delights, Old World Bread, Pig and Publican, Pretzel Factory and Touch of Italy. The event will feature a Dogfish Head limited-release, special-edition Oktoberfest beer, as well as a signature cocktail and local wine from Nassau Valley Vineyards. Non-alcoholic beverages, commemorative steins, and long-sleeved T-shirts will also be available for purchase.

The Happy Wanderers will provide music and the Bairisch und Steierisch Bavarian and Austrian Dancers will be providing entertainment and instruction on German cultural dancing. The wearing of Dirndls and Lederhosen is encouraged.

Entrance tickets are $25 for attendees age 16 and over. Children 15 and under are free when accompanied by a ticketed adult. Food and beverages are purchased separately at the event. Proceeds from Oktoberfest benefit the Friends of the Lewes Canalfront Park. The funds raised go toward maintaining and enhancing this beautiful open space and help support free programs and events in the park for visitors and residents of the community to enjoy.

The park is located at 211 Front St. in Lewes on the banks of the Lewes-Rehoboth Canal. Tickets are limited and available online at and at the Lewes Chamber of Commerce, 120 Kings Highway. For information, call the park’s hotline 302-645-2795 or go to  where there is a link on the home page to purchase tickets.
