Olive Annie Ward, loved to travel

Olive Annie Ward, 79, of Lewes, passed away Thursday, June 16, 2022, after fighting a courageous battle with COPD.

Olive was born April 16, 1943, to the late Omar and Pearle Quillen. She graduated from Rehoboth High School in 1961. After graduating from cosmetology school, she went to work for both Grants and Ina’s salons. Before her retirement, she worked as an activity director at Harbor Healthcare in Lewes. She was a member of Rehoboth Beach Volunteer Fire Company Auxiliary and belonged to American Legion Post 28. 

Olive loved to travel and was fortunate enough to have traveled to different countries throughout Europe, South Africa, Argentina and Uruguay. She was looking forward to their yearly camping trip with travel friends Tom and Eve Hughes. 

In addition to her parents, Olive is preceded in death by her brother, Omar Quillen Jr., and brothers-in-law, Dale Magee, and Jack and Billy Ward. 

She is survived by her devoted and loving husband of 58 years, Fred Ward; daughter, Michelle Ward; sister, Harriett Magee; sisters-in-law, Debbie Britton, Doris Ward and Linda Ward; nephew, Dale Magee (Amy); grand-niece, Alexandra; nieces, Kathy Donze (Randy) and Edith Peterman; grand-niece, Lauren; nephew, Carl Ward; grand-niece, Sophie; nephew, John Ward (Angel); grand-niece and -nephew, Emily and Ridgley; niece and nephew, Stacey Porter (Bill) and Michael Ward; niece, Sheryl Tretina; grand-niece, Amanda Warrington; grand-nephew, Scott; nephews, Kenneth Quillen (Kelly) and Michael Quillen (Candy); grand-nephews, Jasen and Kyle Quillen. 

Per Olive’s wishes, services will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Rehoboth Beach Volunteer Fire Company Auxiliary.
