Operation SEAs the Day to honor wounded warriors Sept. 5-7

August 22, 2019

Operation SEAs the Day is a beach week event for veterans and their families.

These wounded veterans have gone from a battlefield to a hospital, then home. Residents and visitors can continue to show these deserving fellow Americans that Bethany Beach is a community that cares.

From 6 to 9 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 5, warrior families will be in downtown Bethany Beach having dinner, shopping and enjoying the beauty of the town. When people see silver ID tags they wear from Operation SEAs the Day, they can thank the families for their service and sacrifice.

Community members can line the streets from 4:45 to 5:15 p.m. Friday, Sept. 6, to cheer and recognize the wounded warrior families as a motorcade travels from Sea Colony Marketplace along Route 1, onto Route 54 in Fenwick toward Selbyville, and into Bayside/Freeman Stage. Attendees can wear red, white and blue, and wave American flags as the VIFs ride by, or come to Bayside and give these brave men and women the heroes’ welcome home they deserve as they arrive between 5 and 5:15 p.m.

Operation SEAs the Day 2018 merchandise can be purchased at Sea Colony Beach Shoppe at Sea Colony Marketplace, Route 1, or at Bethany Sea Crest, 99 Garfield Parkway, Bethany Beach.

A Bruce In The USA concert will be performed at  7 p.m., Friday, at the Freeman Stage. More than just a tribute, it is the ultimate celebration of Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band. The families will be the honored guests for the high-energy, fun-filled evening.

To purchase tickets, go to www.freemanstage.org.

A classic car show will take place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 7, at Cripple Creek Golf and Country Club, 29494 Cripple Creek Drive, Dagsboro.
