Orthopaedic Associates expands to new Lewes office

State-of-the-art facility offers procedures under one roof
February 26, 2020

Orthopaedic Associates of Southern Delaware has been serving patients with surgery and treatment of disorders related to bones, joints and muscles since 1990. Started by Dr. John E. Spieker, the first orthopaedic surgeon to practice in Southern Delaware, OASD has spread its services to three locations in the region.

On Feb. 21, OASD officially cut the ribbon on its new location in Lewes at the corner of Kings Highway and Gills Neck Road. Now as a division of First State Orthopaedics, OASD has brought together four different offices in Sussex County to one state-of-the-art location.

“It’s all under one roof with new facilities that give the patients one place to go,” said Dr. Gita Pillai, vice president of First State Orthopaedics. “I can’t tell you how many patients are excited to have everything in one place instead of having to drive all over to different locations.”

With the new technology and grand space, OASD can do an array of things that were impossible in one location before. Each of the nine doctors has space for three to five patients, and access to MRI technology and x-ray machines, allowing for larger projects like leg and scoliosis analysis. Premier Physical Therapy will also be located on the second floor.

The office officially opened Jan. 6 and will continue its long-running history of treating fractures, arthritis, complex foot conditions and sports medicine, among others.
