Outgoing Rehoboth mayor thanks community

September 3, 2020

As my term comes to a close, I would like to thank all of the people of Rehoboth Beach for allowing me to serve you as your mayor for the past three years.  It has been my distinct pleasure to work with and for all of the stakeholders of our hometown.

I’d like to recognize the great work done by the city staff, under the guidance of our capable and committed City Manager Sharon Lynn.  Without her leadership and the support of her staff, the city would not have been able to accomplish everything it has achieved over the past three years.

Last, but not least, I thank all of the volunteers and voters who supported my campaign for re-election.  While we did not prevail, the months of effort to get the word out, write thoughtful letters, and work behind the scenes to rally voters are thoroughly appreciated.  I consider myself fortunate for your support and it made my service to the city constituents especially meaningful.

I believe that thanks to support from the commissioners, the businesses and you, the voters, the city has progressed substantially.  The ocean outfall project was completed under budget, the city’s first ever Capital Improvement Plan was implemented, and most recently the city’s “wayfinding” sign system was installed.  Naturally, there is still much work to be done. Our aging infrastructure is in bad shape and must be continually addressed.

Again, thank you all for the opportunity to serve our community.
