Pain management workshop at Delaware Hospice Oct. 18

Early RSVP is requested
October 11, 2019

Dr. Judy Pierson, clinical psychologist, will present a program on pain management  from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m., Friday, Oct. 18, at Delaware Hospice Center in Milford.

Dr. Trevor Hirsch from AquaCare Physical Therapy also will bring his expertise to this presentation.

Chronic pain affects 100 million adults. With more people dying from drug overdoses than in car accidents, the reliance on pain medications is a less-than-ideal solution. And, over time, people develop a tolerance for this medication and sometimes move on to unnecessary and unsuccessful surgeries. New approaches to pain have emerged with our enhanced understanding of how the brain influences the experience of pain.

In this extended three-hour workshop, there will be an exploration of in-depth, new approaches to pain management. Participants will also have opportunities to practice some of the new techniques for managing pain.

This workshop is free and open to the community. Donations are welcomed. Space is limited and early RSVP is requested. For more information or to reserve a space, contact Michelle August at 302-478-5707 or maugust@delawarehospice.org.
