Party affiliation should be protected on voter cards

September 27, 2022

The following letter was sent to Sussex County Department of Elections Deputy Director Tracey L. Wilkerson with a copy provided to the Cape Gazette for publication.

Thank you for the letter about our new voting location as well as the card. Happy to be voting closer to home.

My concern is with putting our party affiliation on the card. As contentious as politics has become, I am betting that many are unable to register as they really would prefer to avoid strife within the household and beyond. It seems that party affiliation privacy was once protected from disclosure for the same reason. Would it be possible to block out this information on all correspondence?
