Paul Alexander Carlson, decorated war veteran

Paul Alexander Carlson, 98, went to heaven to be with the Lord Sunday, Nov. 19, 2017. He was born Oct. 1, 1919, in Versailles, Pa., the son of the late Carl Carlson and Lillie Handel Carlson, and widower of his late dear wife of 73 years, Jeanne Elizabeth Carlson.

Paul was a World War II veteran, where he received European-African-Middle Eastern Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and World War II Victory Medal. Paul retired from the U.S. Steel Mill in McKeesport, Pa., after 30+ years in the accounting department. Since his retirement Paul has been a Delaware resident for nearly 50 years.

Paul and his late wife Jeanne were known throughout the Lewes, Milton and Milford area as they gave out Jesus dollars, and encouraged people to follow the teachings of Christ and sending out The Daily Bread Booklets. Paul also enjoyed listening to Christian quartets, collecting stamps, gardening, and was a friend to many. He will be sadly missed by all of those left behind.

Paul was preceded in death by two of his children, Paul G. Carlson and Darlene Cordeaux; grandson Charles Paul Carlson of Delaware; and his brother Herbert Carlson of McKeesport.

He is survived by a son, Charles (Bud) Carlson and wife Jane; daughter Carole and husband John (Jack) Sieber; son-in-law John Cordeaux; grandchildren, Kristin Carlson, Amy Borland and husband Bo, Kathleen Fintak and husband William, Daniel Carlson and wife Patricia, Jennifer Tietbohl and husband Jeffrey, Zack Sieber and wife Rebecca, Charles Coleman and wife Karen, David Coleman and John Cordeaux Jr. Paul had 11 great-grandchildren, Kelly Carlson, Paulina Borland, Nicholas, Alexander and Kaitlyn Fintak, Andrew and Elizabeth Carlson, Maryann and Elizabeth Tietbohl, Christina Coleman, and Chloe Sieber.

The family would like to express a special thanks to the EMT and ambulance companies of both Milton and Lewes. The staff, doctors and nurses, at Beebe Healthcare and Hospice for their exceptional care.
