Peggy F. Martin, accomplished artist

January 5, 2023

Peggy Frances (Hench) Martin, 85, of Lewes, and formerly of Collingswood, N.J., passed away Monday, Jan. 2, 2023, at her home with her husband by her side. She was born July 16, 1937, in Camden, N.J., daughter of the late Jacob Clark and Eureka Frances Hench.

Peggy sensibly relocated to Lewes in 1979. She eventually met Richard Martin there, and they dated and eventually married on Lewes Beach in front of Lewes Yacht Club. Peggy and Richard maintained many lasting friendships there.

Peggy enjoyed nothing more than boating on the Delaware Bay and the Atlantic Ocean on their 21-foot boat, Peggy M, and delighted in seeing so much bird and marine life in their natural habitats. Peggy was an accomplished artist, and she loved to paint schooners under sail. She was a wonderful decorator of homes and a beloved companion to Richard for more than 15 years.

In addition to her parents, Peggy was preceded in death by her son, Curtis C. Miller. She is survived by her husband, Richard Martin of Lewes; her son, Lee Clark Miller (Sherri) of Saint Petersburg, Fla.; her stepchildren:  Richard J. Martin (Carole) of Chesapeake City, Md., and Deborah J. Guelette of Hartly; her grandsons:  Lee Robert Miller (Rachel Barker) of Milton, and Eric Matthew Miller (Danielle Houchins) of Lewes; her sister, Joan C. Moss of Harrisburg, Pa; her nieces:  Peggy Ann Nofftz of Greenwood, and Gail C. Hull of Mount Joy, Pa.; and her lifelong best friend of 60 years, Lorin Parashes of Haddonfield, N.J.

Services will be announced at a later date.

Final care has been entrusted to Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, Lewes.
