Peninsula Home Care honors physical therapist Blake Hare

October 18, 2019

During Physical Therapy Month in October, Peninsula Home Care at Nanticoke is honoring Blake Hare of the Seaford branch as Outstanding Physical Therapist of the Year.

Hare was nominated internally by other staff members, and all nominations were voted on by a team of Peninsula Home Care leaders.

Having earned his physical therapy degree from Delaware Technical Community College in 2013, Hare worked as a physical therapist in different local outpatient facilities. He joined the Peninsula Home Care at Nanticoke team in 2018. Hare said he enjoys working in home care because it gives him the opportunity to care for people in their normal setting, and allows him to help them overcome their challenges in everyday life.

“We have a great team of nurses and therapists at Peninsula Home Care at Nanticoke,” said Hare. “We all work well together as a team and strive to give our patients the best outcomes possible.”
Hare’s colleagues used the words patient, reliable, calm and flexible to describe him, and said he is always willing to go above and beyond to provide the best patient care.

Physical therapists play a major role in helping people with long-term conditions achieve their goals, fulfill their potential and experience a better quality of life. The individuals who seek and need physical therapy services range from babies to seniors, from people with disabilities to high-performing athletes.

Delaware made the top 10 list of states in which physical therapists earn the most, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics Occupational Outlook Handbook. The employment of physical therapists is expected to grow 28 percent over a 10-year span which is considered much faster than the average for all occupations. With baby boomers aging and so many retiring near the beaches, there is a steady demand for caregiving professions throughout the region for years to come.

“We are always looking for qualified physical therapists to join our team,” said Beverly White, branch director for Peninsula Home Care at Nanticoke. “One of our main objectives in the home is to help patients gain their independence. Physical therapy is a critical part of recovery because it allows our patients to get stronger so they can get back on their feet and back to their life.”
