Peter A. Economos, educator, businessman

Peter A. Economos, 85, of Rehoboth Beach, went to be with our Lord Sunday, Oct. 1, 2017. He was born Wednesday, April 27, 1932, in Chester, Pa., son of the late Andrew and Loukretia Economos.

Mr. Economos served in the U.S. Army from 1953-55. He graduated from Pennsylvania Military College and Temple University, where he earned his master's degree in education. Mr. Economos served as an elementary school educator for over 20 years, and was the owner of several businesses for over 40 years. He was president of Historical Vintage Car Club of Delaware for many years, and was a member of Parish Council at Saint Andrew's Orthodox Church. He was a proud and loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who was deeply loved and will be dearly missed by his family.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Economos was preceded in death by his son, Leon J. Ecomonos. He is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Joan; his sons: Peter, Duane (Dorinda), and Gregory (JoAnn); his daughters: Kimberly Kirker (Robert) and Stacia Wilson (Philip); his 14 grandchildren; his 22 great-grandchildren; and his sister, Stella Yiannatsis.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, Oct. 6, at 11 a.m., at Saint Andrew The Apostle Orthodox Church, 33384 Mackenzie Way, Lewes, where friends may call beginning at 10 a.m. Interment will follow the services at Conley's Chapel Cemetery, 22150 Robinsonville Road, Lewes.

All arrangements are being handled by Parsell Funeral Homes and Crematorium, Lewes.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in Mr. Economos' memory to Saint Andrew the Apostle Orthodox Church, 33384 Mackenzie Way, Lewes, DE 19958.
