Phase 1B COVID-19 vaccinations begin
Thousands turn out for first doses at Georgetown Division of Motor Vehicles
January 23, 2021
It was nonstop traffic Jan. 23, for the first day of Phase 1B COVID-19 vaccinations at the Georgetown Division of Motor Vehicles site. With shots targeted for those 65 years of age and older, lines were long all day as thousands of people waited three hours or more to get a first dose of the Moderna vaccine. The mass vaccinations by reservation only were scheduled to continue Sunday, Jan. 24, in Georgetown. Staff from Beebe Healthcare, Sussex County Emergency Medical Services, Division of Public Health and volunteers manned seven inspection lanes to administer the shots.

Lines are long all day as motorists wind through a series of four parking lots to reach the vaccination area.

Walt Jones of Lewes rolls up his sleeve to get a vaccination administered by Beebe Healthcare nurse Stephanie Williams.
