The Philadelphia Eagles’ risky draft

The NFL draft concluded over the weekend. The Eagles made some noise when they decided to draft Oklahoma quarterback Jalen Hurts with their second round pick. He is a very talented player and I hope Carson Wentz is not angry with the team for picking him.

Hopefully Doug Pedersen has a lot of plays for Jalen to run, because it will be a huge waste of a pick if Jalen just stands around on the sidelines for the whole season, like most back-up quarterbacks do.

Most of the Eagles' other picks were also on the offensive side of the ball. I think they will be hurting on defense but that remains to be seen. Let’s all hope that, come September, there will actually be a full NFL season. My guess is that, even if the season can be put into motion, that it will be with limited amounts of fans in the stands. There's a lot to be figured out.

I was also quite surprised to see the Green Bay Packers' first round pick. They chose quarterback Jordan Love from Utah State to back up Aaron Rodgers. We all know how intense Aaron is as a person, so I don’t think he will take this very well. Maybe he will just be relieved to play at all.

I’ve heard some possible new schedules for baseball and golf, but I haven’t heard any news about tennis trying to restart their schedule. This could be because tennis probably requires the most international travel of all sports. I have no clue when it’s going to start up again.

I had hoped it would be happening by the US Open, but that is probably wishful thinking on my part because it would take place in New York.

I felt really old yesterday when I heard that André Agassi turned 50! But it gave me a good reason to recommend this week's book: Agassi's autobiography, 'Open.' It’s all about his transformation over his long tennis career. It is quite a story and I think you will enjoy it.

And baseball. Oh how I miss baseball! Baseball has had a confusing week. They got my hopes up with an announcement that they could possibly play an 80-100 game season. But then they came out with the negative news that they are going to cancel the hall of fame induction ceremony scheduled for July 26 in Cooperstown, New York. So it is really difficult to decide whether to be positive or negative about a baseball season happening at all this year. It's all such a mess!
