Photo contest celebrates Dewey lighthouse
Dust off your photo albums and check your memory cards – a photo of the lighthouse in Dewey Beach could win two tickets to the annual Winter Gala and a stay at Hyatt Place Dewey Beach.
Harvey Hanna & Associates Vice President of Marketing Ryan Kennedy said that The Lighthouse Through the Decades photo contest celebrates the history of the lighthouse that was built in 1979.
An April arson destroyed the iconic lighthouse and adjacent restaurant, which was under construction. The structure will be rebuilt; a $25,000 reward has been offered to anyone who can provide information leading to an arrest and conviction of those responsible for the fire.
Kennedy said there will be weekly prizes through Friday, Aug. 14, and one grand prize winner. Weekly prizes include Sunset Deck gift certificates, a Lighthouse Cove shirt, and photo displayed at the Winter Gala, a fundraiser hosted annually by the Dewey Business Partnership.
The grand prize winner will receive two tickets to the Winter Gala with an overnight stay at Hyatt Place on event night. The winning photo will be displayed at the Winter Gala and permanently within the property.
Plus, Kennedy said, the contest benefits a good cause.
“For every photo submission, we will donate $5 to Developing Artist Collaboration,” he said. “Every week, at the end of the week, we will post the photos that were submitted.”
Each person may enter a maximum of five photos, which should include the year taken, if known. Photos must be original work taken by entrants. No third party may own or control materials in the photo, which must not infringe upon the trademark, copyright, intellectual rights, or rights of privacy of any person.
