Photo entries due Oct. 14 for Prime Hook Refuge contest

August 20, 2018

The 15th Annual Friends of Prime Hook National Wildlife Refuge Nature Photography Contest is approaching. The deadline for entries for this year is Sunday, Oct. 14.

The annual contest showcases some of the finest nature photography on the Delmarva Peninsula and attracts more than 200 entries in seven different categories. This year's contest exhibit will open with a reception Sunday, Oct. 21, at the refuge auditorium.

The contest is open to all photographers and includes separate categories for junior and senior students. There are many chances to win awards for photographers of all ages and abilities. Categories include the Beauty of Prime Hook, Native Flowers and Plants, Native Birds, Native Wildlife and Delmarva Scenery. Photos can be viewed from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., through Sunday, Dec. 9. There is no admission charge.

The annual contest is sponsored by the Friends of Prime Hook NWR. The show is open to visitors and offers soaring vistas of some of the most scenic areas and wildest residents of the area. Visitors are asked to vote for their favorite photo. The winner will receive a People's Choice Award at the conclusion of the show.

The Friends group thanks this year's panel of distinguished photographers who will be judges, as well as the refuge staff and many volunteers who help make the contest possible each fall.
