Pianist Awadagin Pratt performs for capacity crowd at Coastal Concerts

American String Quartet to appear Nov. 17
November 17, 2018

To inaugurate Coastal Concerts’ 20th anniversary season, pianist Awadagin Pratt performed to a sold-out crowd Oct. 30 at Bethel United Methodist Church in Lewes.

The audience was mesmerized by his program, which included classical works by Brahms, Beethoven and Franck, along with a contemporary piece by composer Lera Auerbach.

Pratt, who graced the Coastal Concerts stage before in 2015, turned in a stunning performance this year showing the depth of his musical insight and the intense passion he brings to his art. His encore piece, played entirely with his left hand, was an astonishing display of skill and precision. It was an energizing start to the season.

The American String Quartet, with Roberto and Andrés Díaz, is next to perform on the Coastal Concerts lineup. They will appear at 2 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 17, at Bethel United Methodist Church. The American String Quartet is recognized internationally as one of the world’s finest quartets, and with the power of the Díaz brothers, audience members can expect an outstanding and overwhelming performance. This will likely be another sellout crowd, so early ticket purchase is recommended.
