Police: Burglar just about empties Midway Sunglass Hut

November 29, 2021

A man nearly emptied a Sunglass Hut of all its merchandise at the store in the Midway Tanger Outlets.

Delaware State Police were called at 10 a.m. Nov. 28 to the store on Midway Outlet Drive for the burglary that happened overnight, said Master Cpl. Heather Pepper of the Delaware State Police.

A man wearing a gray-hooded sweatshirt, gray sweatpants and a baseball hat, with a dark-colored face covering and dark gloves, forced his way into the business and once inside took most of the store’s inventory of sunglasses and an undisclosed amount of cash from the register before fleeing, Pepper said.

The man was possibly traveling in a Chrysler Town and Country minivan with another unknown male subject, she said. There are no video surveillance images available.

This incident is being investigated by the Delaware State Police Troop 4 Criminal Investigations Unit.
