Police are investigating an Oak Orchard home invasion in which a man broke into a family home Nov. 16 and fought with adults inside after trying to rob them.
A 32-year-old woman, her husband, 32, and their five children were inside the River Winds Development home in the 27000 block of Devon Drive at 7 p.m. when a man forced his way into the home, said Master Cpl. Melissa Jaffe of the Delaware State Police.
The suspect demanded money from the woman and lunged at her while trying to grab her around the neck, Jaffe said. The woman escaped and ran to the rear of the home to notify her husband, who confronted the suspect in the hallway. The husband was punched in the face; a 21-year-old man in the home went to help the husband and the three men began fighting, Jaffe said.
The suspect took the 21 year old’s cell phone, went out the front door and ran toward Oak Orchard Road, Jaffe said.
The suspect is described as dark complected, 35 to 40 years old, about 6-feet tall, heavy set and wearing dark colored clothing.
The three adult victims as well as the five children ranging from 9 years old to less than a year old did not request medical assistance.
