Two men face charges after police say they damaged Georgetown parking meters Dec. 2 to remove money.
Georgetown police were patrolling East Market Street and The Circle in Georgetown at 1:53 a.m. when they spotted a man wearing dark clothing, said Detective Joey Melvin of the Georgetown Police Department.
When police tried to contact the man, Melvin said, the man fled on foot but was caught by police near South Race Street. A second man was found in the area; surveillance footage showed the two men damaging parking meters and removing money, Melvin said.
Police arrested Chad Wilson, 34, of Georgetown and Christopher Marshall, 42, of Millsboro and charged them with felony criminal mischief, conspiracy, two counts of theft under $1,000 and one count of criminal mischief under $1,000. Marshall was also charged with resisting arrest.
Both men were committed to Sussex Correctional Institution in default of unspecified bond.
