Police: Two robbed at Lewes Wawa gas pump

November 29, 2019

The Delaware State Police are investigating an armed robbery after two people were robbed at knifepoint Nov. 29 at the Lewes Wawa.

A 17-year-old boy was pumping gas at 12:11 a.m. at the Wawa on Dartmouth Drive and Route 1 when he was approached by three males who asked the victim for his wallet, said Master Cpl. Melissa Jaffe of the Delaware State Police.

When the victim refused, Jaffe said, one of the males struck him and another displayed a knife. A third male got into the vehicle and grabbed a 16-year-old female passenger who was seated in the vehicle during the incident, Jaffe said.

At that point, Jaffe said, the victim gave the males an undisclosed amount of cash and the three suspects fled in a dark-colored SUV. Neither the boy or girl was injured during the robbery.

The suspects are described as 15 to 20 years old, all wearing dark-colored, hooded sweatshirts, Jaffe said.

Anyone with information in reference to this incident is asked to contact Troop 4, Major Crimes Unit, Detective Doughty at 302-856-5850. Information may also be provided by calling Delaware Crime Stoppers at 1-800-TIP-3333 or at
