Possum Point Players’ ‘Dixie Swim Club’ continues June 14-16

June 12, 2019

The Possum Point Players will continue its production of “The Dixie Swim Club” Friday to Sunday, June 14 to 16.

Friday and Saturday performances are at 7:30 p.m., and the Sunday matinee is at 2 p.m. Tickets are $20 for adults, and $19 for seniors and students. For more information or to purchase tickets, go to www.possumpointplayers.org or call 302- 856-3460.

“The Dixie Swim Club” takes the audience to the Outer Banks of North Carolina where five best friends who bonded in college gather annually to reconnect, relax and get a little rowdy.

Cat Baker plays Sheree, who’s still organizing and scheduling everyone and everything just like she did as swim team captain. She’s always in charge – until she’s not. Lexie, a successful event planner, is played by Jill Lewandowski. On the surface, she is a pampered Southern belle; inside, there just might be a heart of gold. Beth DiGrasso portrays Dinah, a force to be reckoned with in the legal profession, but less so in her personal life and romantic adventures. Vernadette, played by Cheryl Graves, is a dedicated schoolteacher with some less-than-perfect family members, but she never loses her sense of humor or her love for her college friends. Sweet, eager-to-please Jeri Neal, played by Audrey Killen, entered the convent right after college graduation but was later called to be a mother.

The play spans four of their weekend reunions, following characters as they advance from young adulthood to their senior years. Along the way, there’s plenty of teasing, rehashing old times, sharing accomplishments and sorrows, and even a flare or two of temper, as they experience all that real life has to offer.

“The Dixie Swim Club” is suitable for all audiences of all ages.
