September 5, 2019

Possum Point Players will present the American comedy classic “Arsenic and Old Lace” with shows at 7:30 p.m., Friday and Saturday, Sept. 13, 14, 20 and 21; and 2 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 15 and 22, at Possum Hall, 441 Old Laurel Road, Georgetown. Tickets are $20 for adults, and $19 for students and seniors. Call 302-856-4560 or visit www.possumpointplayers.org to purchase tickets or for more information.

Written by Joseph Kesselring, “Arsenic and Old Lace” follows well-known drama critic Mortimer Brewster as he plans to bring his lovely, refined fiancée Elaine Harper to meet his family members for the first time. When Mortimer realizes that his sweetly charitable aunts Abby and Martha Brewster, and exuberant if slightly addled Uncle Teddy, have been engaging in some strange neighborly encounters with lonely old men, the questions mount up and hilarity ensues.

Rehoboth Beach resident John H. Hulse directs this brew of comedy and mystery. Cast members are Andrew Hertzberg of Broadkill Beach; Mike Williams of Georgetown; Gina Shuck of Dover; and Chuck Rafferty of Laurel; along with Doug Friend, Mike Mahaffie, Bernie Noeller, and Sarah Rose of Lewes; Alex Lloyd-Wood and Anthony Pierantozzi of Millsboro; Steven Dow and Steven Perry of Rehoboth Beach; and E.J. Panico of Seaford. Assisting Hulse are associate director Becky Craft of Slaughter Beach, and stage manager Donna Flomp of Milton.

“Arsenic and Old Lace” is appropriate for all audiences. Theater-goers should purchase tickets early to ensure their choice of dates.

Possum Point Players is supported, in part, by grants from the Delaware Division of the Arts, a state agency dedicated to nurturing and supporting the arts in Delaware, in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts.
