Possum Point Players to open ‘It’s a Wonderful Life’ Nov. 30

November 26, 2018

It takes a lot of folks to populate Bedford Falls in Possum Point Players’ production of “It’s a Wonderful Life,” set to open Friday, Nov. 30. Director Jerry Gietka drew from 13 Delaware communities and one in Maryland to fill the small town featured in this Christmas classic. Performance dates include Dec. 1, 2, 7, 8 and 9; Friday and Saturday shows are at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday matinees (currently sold out) are at 2 p.m. Tickets are $25, or $24 for seniors and students, and may be purchased at www.possumpointplayers.org or by calling 302-856-3460.

Leading the cast are Rehoboth resident Steve Givens as George, Frankford resident Amy Baker-Sheridan as Mary, Ed Guinan of Dagsboro as Clarence, Michael Murnin of Lewes as Uncle Billy, and Laurel resident Chuck Rafferty as Mr. Potter.

Joining their neighbors in Bedford Falls are Millsboro residents Crystal Bradford, Hadleigh Schwartz and Ashlee Carrillo; Milton residents Andrew Hertzberg and John Zinzi; and Louise Hartzell and Olivia Farra of Georgetown. Also from Dagsboro is Victoria Cook; from Laurel is Jack Jones and from Lewes, Bernie Noeller. Other residents of Bedford Falls include Jill Lewandowski of Milford, Susann Studz of Fenwick Island and Carolyn Reese of Greenwood. Rounding out the cast are Gina Voges of Seaford, Hope Kline of Selbyville and Barbara Gallagher of Berlin, Md.

Gietka said his cast has come together to bring the trials and triumphs of Bedford Falls to life on the Possum Hall stage. Bitterness and threatening failure loom over George to the point that he considers leaving this life. However, maybe some divine intervention will come along and help him realize that really, “It’s a Wonderful Life.” Audience members should come prepared for a good dose of holiday spirit.

True to the original Frank Capra production on the big screen, the stage production of “It’s a Wonderful Life” celebrates seasonal faith and the American philosophy that hard work, fair play, and the love and support of one’s family and community will prevail. “It’s a Wonderful Life” is appropriate for all audiences.

“It’s A Wonderful Life” is produced through special arrangement with Dramatic Publishing.

Possum Point Players is supported, in part, by grants from the Delaware Division of the Arts, a state agency dedicated
to nurturing and supporting the arts in Delaware, in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts.
