Possums add Dec. 10 ‘White Christmas’ matinee

November 22, 2022

Starting a year of favorite plays from 50 years of community theater, Possum Point Players will present a reprised production of Irving Berlin’s musical “White Christmas” from Friday to Sunday, Dec. 2 to 4 and 9 to 11.

Curtain time is 7:30 p.m. for Friday and Saturday shows, and 2 p.m. Sunday. Heavy early ticket sales have led to an added show at 2 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 10. Matinees for Dec. 4 and Dec. 11 have sold out, and limited tickets remain for evening performances. Patrons are strongly encouraged to purchase tickets as soon as possible to avoid missing the show.

Tickets are $27 for adults, and $25 for seniors and students. To purchase, go to possumpointplayers.org or call 302-856-4560.

First performed in Possum Hall in 2012, “White Christmas” mirrors the movie that weaves together tales of friendship and family, a New England country inn setting and a sentimental love story. Music and dance fill the stage with such lifelong favorites as “I’ve Got My Love to Keep Me Warm,” “Count Your Blessings,” “How Deep Is the Ocean,” “Blue Skies” and of course, “White Christmas.”

The show is directed by Kenney Workman, with Diane Trautman as music director and Aimee Voshell-String as choreographer.

Cast members from all over Delaware join in bringing “White Christmas” to the stage. From Georgetown are Don Megee, Kennedy Megee and Andrew Showell. Claudius
Bowden, Lorraine Leavel and Julianna Markel are from Milford. Steve Givens and Cheryl Graves are from Rehoboth Beach, and Abbie Porter and Kierstyn Woody are from Seaford.

Irving Berlin’s “White Christmas: The Musical” is being produced through special arrangement with Concord Theatricals.
